Samsung Tweetwrap

The Brief

To introduce a new series of laptops to the world Samsung reached out to us at The Barbarian Group to create a campaign that matched the power and ingenuity of their products.

Discovery

We bunkered down and came up with a series of ideas, eventually settling on 'Boosted'. The thesis behind boosted is that every once in a while, everyone needs a boost and Samsung's product can do just that.

With the idea of a boost and the Christmas season around the corner we came up with the idea of creating wrapping paper from Twitter streams. We found a vendor who could print on-demand and grabbed a couple Samsung Series 9 laptops to give away.

Simply, wrap a gift in your boosted paper, show us the photo of Facebook and the best one gets a laptop.

I sat down with Anthony Dines, the visual force behind Tweetwraps 8-bit style and planned the experience. We knew it had to be dead-simple so we made the entire site the interface. The background would be your paper and the foreground would tell you what to do.

When you were done you could share and print your paper, which would be shipped to you by our vendor.

Design

Due to printing limitation Tweetwrap had to wrap. In other words the paper had to repeat seamlessly so the designs were created to support that. The style evokes 8-bit graphics - a passion of the core audience.

Results

Tweetwrap one FWA's site of the day and a One Show bronze pencil. (we only had to pay for one of those) Media outlets also loved it from Mashable to coupon queens. The ROI was paid in full.
