Mozilla was getting ready to launch the first version of their Firefox web browser for Android and they reached out to the Barbarian Group to come up with innovative ways to promote it.
We quickly brainstormed to come up with ways to promote the browser through sharing. We thought about QR codes, email campaigns, videos, and eventually games.
The idea of doing game play that used sharing as the primary activity plays perfectly into the brief and user psychology of goal completion, and mastery over other players.
Our process started with sketching user flows and interface elements to map out the game play. Once we had a good idea of the elements we wanted to create I used Axure RP to create a functional prototype of wireframes so that our designers could click through all of the screens and interactions. I strongly believe that prototypes are a better deliverable than static wireframes for most interactive projects because they tell the story through use rather than the viewers imagination.
