I recently started watching the TED Talks series of videos on my iPod Touch, that I am developing a site for at iMed Studios, and was pleased to find a talk given by Jeff Hawkins in 2003 regarding intelligence. This reminded me that I kept meaning to pick up his book On Intelligence but hadn’t gotten around to it yet.

I have now purchased and read the book and it is amazing. It is a fresh look at how the brain functions and a wonderful set of processes to consider when designing anything, but especially user interfaces. The realization that intelligence is based on patterns and predictions has allowed me to think about patterns and process in a much clearer path.
